My Pennyworth
Marketing Statement (220 words)
Paul Hoggard & Penny Rowsell-Hoggard are singer /songwriters who can be broadly labelled in the Folk Rock or Acoustic music genre and in this project they call themselves 'My Pennyworth'. Having now played together for about 10 years in their show you will find leanings toward folk, country, pop, blues and other genres, with different rhythms and tempos spread throughout their material and sometimes influences from their celtic roots. Penny accompanies Paul with an array of instruments depending on where they are, but will usually include keys, accordion, whistles and occasionally even bagpipes, along with vocal harmonies. Audiences are soon tapping their toes while clapping along to a rocky beat, swaying to a waltz, and invariably singing along to some catchy choruses. Paul and Penny are passionate about song writing so each song is a labour of love that can sometimes drag on for years, but having a few songs in the pipeline to them is always fun and challenging. So far 4 albums of their songs have been released. My Pennyworth have played locally and all over NZ as guests at Folk Clubs, Festivals and at concerts, playing a variety from their albums and a sprinkling of their most cherished covers that showcase the blend of melody and harmony they love. They have made two 3-month tours of the UK playing pubs, clubs, concerts and guests at many folk clubs.
